Recording

The Recording Division of the Clerk and Recorder’s Office is responsible for recording, indexing and preserving public documents, issuing marriage licenses and civil union licenses, and processing new passport applications.

The Recording Division can assist customers with recording real estate records, military discharges (DD-214) and any other items where there is a need for a public record.

In-person services are by appointment only. Please note that you must make an appointment through our scheduling tool below.

Recording Documents

Public Notice: Effective July 1, 2022, the Clerk and Recorder's Office will begin recording Land Surveys (instead of depositing them), pursuant to C.R.S. 38-50-101(8). Recording fees for Land Surveys will be $13 for the first page and $10 for each additional page. Land Surveys will be assigned a full reception number (ex. E2000001) instead of a shortened deposit number (ex. E12297).

Electronic SubmissionThis is the preferred, fastest option for commercial entities. Please submit your documents electronically through one of our eRecording submitters.

Drop Box: You may also drop your documents with a check payment in the red, 24-hour drop boxes located outside of each branch office. Please write “Recording” on your envelope and make sure your check payment is for the exact amount.

Mail Submission: An alternative to electronic submissions is to mail documents to be recorded to the address below. Please make a check for the exact amount of your transaction payable to “Arapahoe County Clerk” and mail to:

Search for Documents

Use our online Document Search to find and/or purchase recorded documents dating back to Feb. 1, 1996. To request document copies with a Book and Page, or marriage licenses recorded prior to 1996, please email your request to recording@305708.com. Research in Grantor and Grantee books can be done by appointment at the Recording Office at the County Administration Building (same address as above).

Court Records and Legal Forms

The Clerk and Recorder’s Office is not affiliated with County, municipal, or state court systems and cannot provide court records, forms or documents. Please visit the Colorado Judicial Branch and find the District Court in which the case was filed, or use the self-help forms provided. This includes:

Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) Requests

You may use our online portal to make a CORA request pertaining to the Clerk and Recorder's Office (Elections, Recording and Motor Vehicle) here.
Please note: The NextRequest tool is only for CORA requests. For deeds, titles, liens, marriage licenses, divorce decrees, birth/death certificates, certified copies, or other public documents, please use our Document Search tool or email recording@305708.com. 


Satisfaction of Judgement/Lien Release

If you have received an Acknowledgement of Satisfaction of Judgement from the Colorado Department of Revenue, please follow the instructions in the envelope you received. The Acknowledgment must be filed directly with the Arapahoe County District Court, NOT with our office:

If you also have a “Lien Release” document in the same packet, the Lien Release must be filed with our office. The fee is $13 for a one-page form.  

Note: There is not always a Lien Release document in Satisfaction of Judgement packets.
